False Anti-Virus Alert

One of the newer web spoofs out there is involving a fake anti-virus software called Anti-Virus 2009 or 2008 (depending on what site you are on). Once clicking on an infected site you will be prompted with what appears to be a window from an anti-virus program informing you of several instances of viruses on your PC. Once clicking on the remove button, the site will download several instances of spyware on your machine. It can be quite confusing and often time looks very legit, when you are prompted with the offer, back out of the site you are currently on. Contact the IT Dept. ASAP, the longer this spyware is on your PC the more difficult removal becomes.
